A press conference of the mayor of the capital Emilbek Abdykadyrov is taking place in the KNNA “Kabar”.

The Mayor of the capital spoke about plans to combat smog and improve the environmental situation in the capital.

“We are considering the possibility of transferring 22 municipal coal-fired boilers to gas and other alternative heat sources. The projected amount will be 220 million soms,” the mayor said.

It is also planned to create a special lane for public transport and taxis.

The Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic propose to introduce restrictions on the use of local coal “Kara Keche" for heating in the private sector. It is necessary to consider conducting an experiment to introduce restrictions on the import of local coal from Kara-Keche to Bishkek and reimburse the price difference for this coal to consumers in the next heating period. Thus, we will be able to solve the smog problem by 20% - 40%,” E. Abdykadyrov added.
